At PathWays we are dedicated to expanding the opportunities that enrich the lives of people with disabilities. Our passion is working together with individuals and their families in order to create their own desired future in their own community. We provide our services in the spirit of partnership and respect.
Work is one way for each of us to learn, grow and add value to our lives. The journey to find employment begins with creating a vision of the work experience desired and creating a road map to get there.
The Employment Options team is committed to helping people realize their goal of being successfully employed and provide the encouragement and supports to help each person achieve their goal. In addition to providing income, a successful work experience often leads to the development of meaningful and lasting relationships.
Our Core Services
Individualized Employment
We assist individuals to obtain employment or self-employment that is based on their employment profile and goals in their service agreement.
Individualized Employment
We support individuals to meet their goals in regards to:
- Their desired number of hours they wish to work in accordance with their service agreement. PathWays is currently leading the state with the highest number of hours at which individuals are employed.
- Earning wages of at least minimum wage or prevailing wage. PathWays is currently leading the state with the highest wages individuals are earning.
Career Development
We provide individuals with opportunities to participate in comprehensive career development processes, which help us to identify, in a timely manner, the individual’s employment profile. We support individuals to further their careers advocating for promotions, raises, and climbing the career ladder for success.
Pre-employment Preparedness
We support individuals to develop appropriate skills that will aid them in employment success. These skills include:
- Help in learning appropriate social skills to actively participate in the culture of his or her workplace
- Creation of resumes and employment portfolios
- Practicing job interviewing skills
- Learning soft skills that are essential for succeeding in the workplace
Career Exploration
We meet with area businesses to find out their needs and do our best to match these with the interests and abilities of those seeking employment. We support individuals to participate in job tours or when they are just seeking additional information about a specific industry or employer.
Training and Job Security
We look for opportunities for skill development and advancement within current employment. We assist individuals in training for their positions and help to develop natural supports within their workplaces. We also assist individuals and coworkers in problem solving in hopes that they can work together to problem solve in the future without us.
Work Checks
We do periodic work checks with the individual, supervisor, and coworkers to ensure that not only the individual is getting the support they need, but the needs and standards of the employer are being met as well.
Encourage Independence
We will always encourage and assist individuals to become as independent as possible throughout their employment endeavors, internships, education and training opportunities by:
- Completion of job applications and other required paperwork
- Developing workplace accommodations
- Utilizing assistive technology and tools
- Assessing and cultivating natural supports within the workplace
- Creating and implementing fading plans
Other skills/supports we provide
Help the individual to learn, improve, and maintain a variety of life skills related to employment, such as:
- Managing personal funds
- Utilizing public transportation/traveling safely in the community
- Other life skills identified in the service agreement related to employment
- Promote the individual’s health and safety
- Protect the individual’s right to freedom from abuse, neglect, and exploitation
- Provide opportunities for the individual to exercise personal choice and independence within the bounds of reasonable risks.
Vocational Rehabilitation Community Rehabilitation Provider (CRP)
Services-Pathways is contracted with NH Vocational Rehabilitation as a vendor and provides employment supports as authorized through our local Vocational Rehabilitation counselors.
We support individuals to meet their goals in regards to:
- Their desired number of hours they wish to work in accordance with their service agreement- Pathways is currently leading the state with the highest number of hours individuals are employed at.
- Earning wages of at least minimum wage or prevailing wage.- Pathways is currently leading the state with the highest wages individuals are earning.
